Greetings...

I'm trying to help a friend get an P-II going again. It was a Win98 system which
suffered a hard drive failure. No matter which way I try to boot the system -
CD,
floppy, or a replacement hard drive which I took from another system - I can
only
get to the BIOS screen and then the boot sequence stops.

The memory test goes ok, then the correct/replacement hard drive is identified,
and then nothing else happens. I can't boot from floppy, CD, or hard drive no
matter what is selected in the BIOS.

Any suggestion about what I might look for or change? A book on Upgrading and
Repairing PCs hasn't led me to any flashes of insight. :-) Many thanks...

cheers, Stephen
