I also use generic carts for my Epson and the chips on them are also reset
by the tool I have, which can be purchased here

If you are in the UK there are a couple of places selling a chip reseting
tool. I have one. They cost about £5 - 6 As Jimmy says, they work like a
charm. The only caveat is that every non Epson cart I have seen so far has
a chip that cannot be reset. Or if you prefer, cannot be reset by this tool
!!

Note that Jimmy said "remanufactured Epson carts" which I assume to be
genuine carts that have been professionally cleaned and refilled.

Best Regards:
                Derrick.
