I took another run at trying to get batch files to work and I couldn't manage it. I poked through the registry and discovered that "batfile" has a REG_BINARY for "EditFlags" of 30 04 00 00. I checked "comfile" and _its_ EditFlags value is 30 00 00 00. AHA thinks I.... so I changed the EditFlags for batfile and it didn't help... Where else can the system be hiding that info [hmm... or I suppose it could've required that I logoff/logbackin or reboot to get the new registry entry to take effect... ????]
