Yep!  That's the dog that bit me!

I believe this may be the most definitive solution to the problem 
yet, Bob.  Thanks.

However, will the fact that that control isn't installed prevent the 
mike from installing??  I can't see a mike on my system anywhere.

Do you think the one on XP-Pro disc would work?
