Once you do a new re-install, image your system with GHOST or TrueImage or
the imaging software of your choice. This is the basis for a quicker clean
re-install in the future. Install your software and take another image. This
can be used to restore your computer to like new condition. Periodic images
keep you up to date on any changes but allow you to roll back time to a
previous installation situation should a software change cause a problem.

I have my hard drives partioned as C:SYSTEM, D:DOWNLOADS, E:PROGRAMS,
F:FILES. I image the C: and E: drives so that I can recover from any
software problem quickly. I back up the image and download files to a
separate hard drive. This is a fairly good system to get the computer up and
running in the event of a software failure and provides a second backup of
data files.
