>Some are useless, but many are very useful to the "information worker".
What is an info worker ? Again I think this is probably file mgr related as
to how the info is handled.
The technical term for information worker is Data Technician or Specialist
(which I work as) one who specializes, is responsible and deploys in the proper
use of organization, classification and implementation of security, storage and
resource management, updating, distribution, access and maintaining of data and
databases both physical and digital in multiple forms of media. People must
first know what type of information it is and where its located then from there
learn how to handle it properly depending on its context. For instance if its a
salary report I'd only want one person with a good stong security clearance
entrusted with maintaining it under the supervision of payroll. Or say if its a
debit card account only the account holder should have access to it and no one
else.l
Most if not all users on this list are very adept of handeling information
like files, folders, videos, web pages ect in Windows XP or other flavor if you
will while others aren't. some have very keen eyes on security with firewalls
and antivirus protection measures which different levels of skills and know-how
to implement them properly.
Windows explorer is a very useful information and file management tool becuase
you can drag-n-drop, cut and paste, minimize and maximize, open and close
windows, create new file structures like directories etc. Anyone who can
operate a computer with these basics can work Windows inside and out but only
to a certain extent as far as their own knowledge about windows can allow them
to do so.
