No matter what scoring formula people offer, experience tells me that
Microsoft looks harder when a CPU is changed than at any other component or
combination of components. I can move XP OEM from one computer to another
(note that my intentions are to retire the computer I moved it from) and
work out most any authentication problem, as long as I carry the same CPU
forward. I hope this helps you in your decision to rebuild or buy a new
