FWIW, I have been using Alt CPUs for over 15 years. I have always found them
faster (frequency to frequency) and cheaper than Intel. However,
Intel.usually had at least one generation frequency CPU higher available at
a great cost. Therefore Intel could then claim their CPUs were faster which
was not actually the case. So when have you ever seen the Marketing hype
tell the true, the whole true and nothing but the truth. Cyrix and AMD did
not have the marketing dollars to compete and rebutal.

However, the "fastest" has not been crashed since AMD beat Intel to the
punch with their newest CPUs and they kick a** in most situations compared
to Intel's best.

Never had a reliabilty problem with Alt CPUs. Alt CPUs just have difficulty
with Intel's huge marketing (TV adds, etc.) dollars.

However, AMD has been making major inroads into the server market (multiple
CPU mobos) and in higher end puters. They are even suing at this present
time, Intel, for monoply and market manipulation, e.g. threating customers,
e.g. Dell, Gateway, with "dire reprocustions" if they used AMD.

Reminds me of the days (may still be true) when Coke would not sell to
businesses if they also sold Pepsi products.
