While we are on the subject.......

It was Isambard Kingdom Brunell that initiated the GMT system back in the
early days of steam railways in the UK.

London time was say 12:00 and the time in Bristol (200 miles away to the
West) was say 10:30 based on local time and where the sun was so at noon it
was at it's pinnacle.

Now or mate Isambard owned the GWR (Great Western Railway) and his trains
arrived in Bristol in record time - even at 35MPH but was always very late
back in London.

He soon realised why his trains were lat as he knew that the journey should
take say 4 hours so leaving London at noon it should be in Bristol at 16:00
but it al wars arrived at 14:30 but leaving Bristol at 17:00 it arrived in
London at 22:30 and everyone moaned.

Eventually he persuaded the Brit' Gov' to agree to a time standard for the
UK and apparently the rest is history and cannot be changed.
