Not sure, but that may not be entirely true. Could you look at this link
and tell me what you all think? I am not very well versed in this area but
would be very interested in the HD thing to monitor as it would be much
less expensive than buying a new TV and converter.

It does NOT say one word about HD [high definition] & it says nothing about
DirecTV. All it mentions is the word "digital". Contrary to the DirecTV ads
digital does NOT mean quality. One can have crappy digital signal just like
you can have a crappy analog signal. If you check out this at
<http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=574810> you see that
DirecTV is planning on changing their HDTV transmission standards [I wonder
how much that will cost me?] to Mpeg4 & plans to add 150 national HD
channels by 2007.
If one is new to an area of technology may I suggest that person go very
slowly reading & digesting as much as possible before making the leap. If
you're looking for HDTV reception on your PC Monitor & can recommend a MyHD
or FusionHD card as seen at http://www.digitalconnection.com/ May I also
warn you that if you get the Fushion card that you will NOT be able to send
the output to a HD ready TV like you can with a MyHD card but you will be
able to view HDTV on your computer monitor.
In the near future HD ready TV sets & HDTV receivers will be falling in
price fairly quickly & even DirecTv is now selling their HDTV PVR at only
$499 versus the $1000 I listed earlier.
