Try moving the bar to the right edge of the screen, I moved my years ago and like a lot better.

The context menu for the 'Task' bar has no 'view' item while the context menu for the 'Quick Launch' area DOES have a 'View" item and it DOES allow changing the icon size from 'Large' to 'Small.' But, that only changes the icon size for the 'Quick Launch' bar and NOT the size of the 'Tray' icons. At least, that's what I see on my system... There's got to be something else I have overlooked...
