Sam,
You don't say what the partition specifications are!

For install on a new drive, there must be either space for the install to
create a primary bootable, visible active partition, or
there must be a partition that is Primary Active Installable and visible

Additionally, the setup should not be such that there will be more than
Primary, and extended partitions,
although there may be any
(reasonable remembering the allocation letter limit that includes
Pseudo/virtual drives)
number of non-Primary Partitions in the extended partition(s)
It's also better not to have un assigned gaps in the allocation as that can
upset the various partitioning facilities when you use that space in
partitions
( Shouldn't - but don't say you'all weren't warn'd)

But - as Carl replied - do it the proper & easy way - use the process on the
CD
