Could I please solicit a comment or two re the use of floppy drives -- Anti-floppy people need not respond.

The following is in the midst of a conversation amongst several people re the use of _two_ FDDs -- I have selected bits and pieces but you will get the idea:

Some of the communicants have noted that MSI (and perhaps others) claims that its FDD port will support only _one_ FDD. It is hard to understand why they would disable one of the drives. Is it common understanding that a M/B mfg would provide a FDD port but disable one drive.

The engineer (company that sells floppy drives) that
responded told him that "all floppy controllers support 2 drives."

Forum Message:
"I have a Teac FD505 which is comprises of a 3.5" drive slot and a 5.25"
slot. There are for jumper plugs determine which is designated as the A
drive and which is designated as the B drive. Observing how the jumpers
operate it is essentially that of a four pole double switch. (The four
jumpers are essentially pivoted about a common pin which would be the
equivalent of the wiper arm of double throw switch)Can I install a four
pole double pole switch to change which section is the A drive? Can I
change the switch which would be equivalent to changing the four jumpers
simultaneously without shutting down the computer. The switch would be a
break before make contact type. The reason for doing so is the Bios on my
computer only recognizes one floppy drive. I would have to go into the Bios
to recognize a different size floppy drive.

Is there an multiple floppy drive interface card that pugs in to one of the
mother board slots and has software program that will allow me to access
two or more floppy drives? "
