Depends on your neighbourhood....

that's the problem, you can make for a few dollars, directional antenna's 
that allow much longer distances to access wifi. Plunk down say $50 to a few 
hundred dollars and now you have an antenna that will allow you to pickup 
signals from over a mile away. That means the next neighbourhood over could 
be surfing on your connection.

residential clients, is most people don't understand how easy it is to 
receive wifi signals for over a mile away.  With the proper antenna, 2 - 4 
times that distance is easily possible.

WEP is dead, use WPA or better. Another good choice is WPA and Lucidlink
