The fun will be when they try something in Canada where, I understand the appropriate copyright/performance rights payment organisation got the government to put a tax on blank recording media, so part of the cost of the media goes to the Performing Rights society for payment to cover the use that is expected to be made of the media to copy copyright material
So - when you bought a CD, DVD or Floppy, Adisk, tape cassette, tape reel, hard drive, etc. you paid for the right to copy anything with a copyright and registered with the society for royalty payments associated with the reproduction of the creation/performance ?? Or have I got that wrong JimB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rick Glazier" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2005 7:05 PM Subject: Re: Though you mig ht want to look at t his - Bit Torrent us er jailed? > Bit Torrent has NEVER been designed for this type of use... > It was designed to be TOTALLY trackable. > (They do have a new type program that might be out that eliminates > the "seed" server and central control...) > The owners of the program are even in negotiations with the > major Hollywood Studios for the next generation of "cheap" > distribution, using Bit Torrent +DRM... > The movies will still cost around the same though.. > (The Hollywood type/definition of the same.) > > Rick Glazier > > From: "Hugh Gundersen" > BitTorrent user found guilty, By John Oates > Published Tuesday 25th October 2005 10:39 GMT > > A Hong Kong man has been found guilty of copyright infringement for his > use of BitTorrent. > > > -- > No virus found in this outgoing message. > Checked by AVG Free Edition. > Version: 7.1.361 / Virus Database: 267.12.5/149 - Release Date: 10/25/2005 > > -- > ---------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Is your picture included in the Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page? > http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html > If not, write to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > -- ---------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Is your picture included in the Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page? http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html If not, write to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
