I recently upgraded 2 weeks ago my old 1984 Samsung 20 inch color CRT to a new analog Magnavox 20 inch FCRT (Flat CRT) for my bedroom which has 3 RCA connectors input and output and one component RGB output. My Livingroom has a RCA 32 inch Stereo CRT TV. I don't have digital cable yet but I intend to get it and I can get by very well until 2009 when the conversions complete. I'd still have to get an ATD (Analog To Digital) converter to use the analog set with digital cable.
I don't seem to rememmber the the old converter boxes. Were they kind of bulky and converted the VHF channels to UHF? Digital TV Date Pushed to 2009 http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,123136,00.asp 10.21.2005 I know it old news but in the article it mentions that the commitee bill doesn't include funding for consumer education on DTV. So how in the heck is the average joe beside us PC techs here going to know about the conversion to DTV in 2009? I think this is an insult to the non-tech consumer if they don't have still have a analog TV and turn it on they won't get a signal unless they buy a ATD converter box. Remember the old convertors for $30_US when UHF first came out... (1970s?) I expect a whole "cottage industry" to spring up around this again... I liked the Standard Kolsman brand.
