I was talking about a completely different laptop from the OP in order to widen your perspective. Your perspective was that a laptop wouldn't have two memory slots in completely different locations. My point was, they can, they do. However that does not apply to OP's I2200.
My other point was that sometimes, Dell calls a less-accessible memory slot "non-upgradeable" or some other non- word to discourage customers from trying to upgrade memory in the more difficult to reach slot. Now, back to OP's problem. It does appear the I2200's 256MB base memory is soldered in and *really* non-removable. I had my doubts about that but I've done some more research and confirmed it. If OP's laptop has the externally accessible memory bay blocked off, then I'm not sure what's going on. On that point, *I'm* confused. Are we trying to remove the "non-removable" memory & if so why? I know on my Dell L400 the non-removable memory is exactly that, not removable & the non removable memory is right under the removable memory but it's soldered in very tightly. I suppose one could risk removing it but I'm not about to. ----------+---------- Wayne D.
