Hi All,

Well, it all works: the Netopia ISDN modem/router on 1 PC, the D-Link Range
Expander & the Linksys USB adapter on the other PC, where the signal is 3
bars (out of 5). No encryption for the moment (the house is in the middle of
no-where (for Belgium, that is ;-)).
I used his laptop as a signal-strength meter, to look for the place to put
the Range Expander, & was amazed at the way the signal dropped when passing
thru the house - 1 bar per meter at one point!

We moved the ADSL filter & his ISDN phone/fax splitter up near the main PC,
lengthening the incoming phone line with some nice Cat 5e cable. Next is to
ask the telco to boost the rate back up to 4Mbps (he previously had 15
meters of regular flat-4 phone cable between the filter & his modem - not so
good!)..

I got a small "belt" from the ISDN line when fiddling with the wiring in the
basement - one knee on a damp floor. Good job it's only 95VDC!

Finally (as it all works now!), it was fun, & I learnt a lot (all I know?)
about wireless! Looking for my next client now!

Regards,

Richard.be
