Thats OK
But you can cut down the content of C: considerably. by deleting the old OS - ( rename directories and prove the system still functions before you delete them ) Or you could install XP as an upgrade to the 98, and get that XP to 'acquire' all the stuff installed under 98. If you don't have the facilities, and a spare system in which to fix things, then cowardice is always the better option ( You should see my fluorescent dayglow yellow streak/broadband) As I said in an earlier email, I have a system that boots XP from the second primary partition, with the ID set as J: and the boot.ini in the first Primary partition that is only 250Mb, and is a DOS & Windows 3.1 OS The boot.ini on that will also boot into secondary partitions, or onto various partitions on the other drive, which also has a 250Mb DOS Primary partition as the first partition JimB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Aditya Mishra" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 15, 2005 12:55 AM Subject: Re: Once again about removing dual boot > Thanks Carl and everyone else. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "James Button" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Monday, November 14, 2005 4:13 PM > Subject: Re: Once again about removing dual boot > > > > > If that is on the 'C' partition then you should not delete that 'C' > > partition until you have persuaded the system to go to the other partition > > for it's boot initiation modules. > I was not planning to delete C partition since boot.ini resides there. > > > > Yes - > > As Carl says, > > the best way to get the system to run from C: is a re-install > > I am afraid of reinstall since I will have to reinstall all applications > as well hardware drivers again. > > > > You will have to fix any directory specifications on the boot.ini entry > > for > > 0,0,0,0 > > > > Then - you can hide the partition 0,0,0,1 and see if the system will boot > > from 0,0,0,0 > > and if so, then you can start adjusting all the shortcuts and other > > application entries that refer to the files and applications as being on > > 'D' > > That is why I want to avoid reinstall in the first place. > > -- > ---------------------------------------- > The WIN-HOME mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned > LISTSERV(R) list management software.
