I can recount a similar story with Earthlink News server.  Connection via
dialup number.  Server worked, but stopped at some point.  No changes were
made in OE during that time.

After a couple of weeks and half a dozen (at least) calls to TS, I found a
guy who knew something.  He suggested that not ALL local dialup numbers
listed on the web privide "direct link" to Earthlink.  He did some digging
and suggested specific dialup number.  Guess what...it solved the problem.

I have lots of TS stories, mostly with Earthlink.  This is why I don't take
the first answer, especially if it seems wrong, or the support guy/gal makes
some recognizable errors in the conversation.  Talking to Adelphia
yesterday, I found the TS person made several substantial errors on the
subject, and this is why I doubted him.
