Scanning incoming email is redundant since the message is scanned
again when saved or opened. On slower machines I turn email
scanning off, but I would never turn off real-time scanning.

I do not like to keep real-time antivirus scanning running since it
slows down the system. This is particularly noticeable when I am
checking e-mail. E-mail takes a very long time to download since AVG
checks every message.
