"quote" Disabling the memory resident AVG components will disable all real-time virus scanning.
dont think that statement is not quite correct I run avg to check the email but i have the schedued real time scan turned off. But the anti virus feature is still running in the background Several weeks ago on Oct 7 05 this quote was the start of a very long weekend for quite a few people that had AVG set up to run a scheduled check quote "My virus program is detecting a virus in all recent P2E presentations I've made (the .exe files). The virus name is Trojan Horse PSW.Banker.HMQ. It doesn't show in any other program - anyone know anything about this? Is P2E embedding the virus - or is it a case of mistaken identity?" end quote it was Monday the 10 th before AVG had the problem resolved -- they had issued a wrong update and any exe that had been made with a certain version of software was classed as virus and was put in the vault -- stupid me i ran a spot scan and lost > 1 gb of slideshows to the vault which were recovered when avg issued the proper update the slideshow author provided us with a test version to send to avg but AVG would dump to the vault when entering the mail progrom i got a copy of the zip file off my isp server --did a save as to my drive - avg would not let me extract the program from the zip so lesson learned -- you better think about running scheduled scans with untested dat files that in some cases are automaticlly installed if as some have said they are setup to receive them- - couple years ago Norton done same thing -false dat interested in the story see http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3681 ken -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
