What do you suggest in place of System restore? Ghost or?

Once you changed the settings to show hidden files you may not see
it if you have system folders hidden. IMHO MSFT totally screwed up
when they started hiding files from the end users. What do they
think we're running, MACs ? This really ticks me off because MSFT
has created more security problems in what they claim is an attempt
to protect users from themselves. The System Restore thing is bogus
too since it only restores what MSFT deems as important. I've heard
many times that the user didn't need to do backups because of System
Restore. I can see having the c:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache\ & having
it automatically restore files when they become damaged but any more
than that is a waste unless they do the whole system. These combined
with not having ntbackup.exe automatically installed with the
appropriate shortcuts on XP machines is a classic case of
programmers not having any idea what goes on in the real computing
world. I can't count the number of hours I spent going between users
& the IT dept when I was suppose to be teaching CADD. I apparently
got good at it as I spent most of my time each day playing liaison
between users & IT for the satellite offices as well but there was
only one problem. There are only so many hours in a day & I had to
work nights doing my Civil Structural designs when people wouldn't
be bothering me. Is it any wonder I was one of the first burned out
geeks? </rant>
