Thanks to all who replied. I tried messing with cable positioning, changing outlets, and a few other things. I was unable to get the hum to dis-appear whenever I connected something external.

I gave up when I noticed I got a hum when I connected an external USB Sound Blaster (it still hummed when it wasn't even connected to the computer).

I decided to take the cable out of the equation. I purchased an optical cable and connected the external USB Sound Blaster to the amp with that cable.

Works like a charm now. No hum.

Where can I present this problem (listservs?) and get help? Can anyone here help troubleshoot this issue?

Those problems can be from the cable running too close to another cable or power distribution problems. If it's the later some times just rearranging the electrical plugs can change the phasing otherwise you may have to plug into another outlet preferably on another breaker but for more extensive info I find that http://www.avsforum.com/ is the place to go.
