Have you recently sent a bounce to a spammer?
I set Spamwatch to bounce a number of "gold" spammers and got over 2K non
deliverable bounces back.
Eventually I set a filter at my ISP to bounce everything that wasn't
actually addressed to my basic account.
My filter was "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" which actually does or appears to
block everything that does not cover anything that is not addressed as per
my acceptable policy which has all my authorised 'legit' addresses that are
directly forwarded to my ISP mail box.
Some minor ones slip through occasionally but I have now dispensed with any
3rd party spam catcher as the frequency is about 1% of all emails at the
present time.

you thought I said but what you thought you heard wasn't
