yes, that's right, 3 desktop (non-portable) PCs, 1 laptop, the router is 
cabled-connected to 1 of the desktop machines, with wep enabled it's the 
laptop that suffers, the router pc works fine. On an aside, this same 
friend phoned me last night, his whole network had gone down, it turned 
out he had a video-sender turned on (from the tv-out on the router pc to 
the rear of his projector-tv), turned it off and voila, the network was
