i always check where the compressed url takes me before i send it
now is that not safe???
Thank you but that doesn't mean your system couldn't have been
infected & that maybe all your messages have the tiny URL amended to
the message. Ah but you use AVG7 to check your out going messages.
For some bugs unfortunately that's not good enough. There is a form
of a NetSky bug that closes AV apps & even their websites & to make
matters worse there is a form of Beagle or is that Bagle that will
over write the NetSky bug yet it does the same thing closing the AV
app &/or website.
or are you people saying it will be changed by my mailer
or do you not trust mail that i send
For the record I don't trust anything that is hidden whether it's
from you or my mother. Now trust comes in levels much as security
should & I trust your messages more than I do some spam that ended in
my Junk mail folder so my BP only goes up 5pts instead of 20. ;-)
over the years since ie 4 beta days i have tried every trick this forum
experts have said to do re encasing the url within < >
and the url is always broken up by my mailer when /if i have it sent back
to me
so what is the answer
and dont tell me to change my outlook 98 corp set up -- i started with inbox
gravitated to outlook 97 then under the tutledge of Madame Outlook as she
used to be known, jumped on outlook 98
i too old to be changing at this late date :)
Cut yourself some slack there old man. While Outlook 2003 has added
some features & revised a few it's not like you have to learn a whole
new app from scratch & the advantages of using 2k3 are certainly
worth it. FWIW O2k3 had the most changes of all the 2k3 Office apps &
they work flawlessly.
AFAIK the < & > only work once to & for the people you're sending it
to so it's not surprising that once returned to you that they no
longer work. OBTW you could also increase your line lengths from the
standard 72 or is it 76 to 136 or longer & that may aid in some URLs
not breaking when a message is returned to you. FWIW it would also
help if people would either cleanup their quoted material or at the
very least cleanup the >>>>>>>>>>>>> from messages they forward but
unfortunately I'm afraid that pita will always be with us as it is
easier to click forward then it is to actually touch that keyboard thingy.
As an added note if everyone was a conscientious as you are about
forwarding email & if there were no spammers then we wouldn't have
anything to write about.
Have a Happy Healthy & Prosperous New Year there old timer. ;-)
