As some of you no doubt know, IE6 has a problem printing web pages
completely. Web pages often end up cropped on the right side, which makes
printing a receipt from a web page, or some other webpage containing vital
information toward the right margin a real PITA.
This is not something specific to just me or a few other people; it is well
documented on the web, and I have never found a really acceptable fix for
the problem. Obviously what is needed is a "shrink to fit" feature such as
some other browsers have (Firefox and Opera for a couple), but just as
obviously, Msft is not going to provide such a fix this late in the game for
IE6. It is my understanding that IE7 DOES have "shrink to fit" as an
integral part but I have not used IE7 so can't say for sure.
I have used Firefox for some time now so never had the problem before.
Unfortunately, on my satellite connection, for some reason FF is about 30%
slower than IE6 and its derivatives (others using satellite have reported
the same thing). My preferred browser is Maxthon, which is really just a
front end for IE6 that provides some of the niceties of FF, such as tabbed
browsing, but then I have the above problem with that one too.
One can always copy the web page and paste it into something like Word and
print from there, but that gets to be a PITB very quickly. Was wondering if
anyone here may have come up with a solution to this that I didn't run
across in my research?
As stated, from my research, I understand that IE7 contains the "shrink to
fit" feature, so this becomes a none problem with it. Would anyone currently
using IE7 beta know if 1. Maxthon will work with IE7? (I doubt it, but who
knows?) 2. If it is possible to have both IE6 and IE7 installed at the same
time? 3. Would anyone care to offer opinions/experiences on using IE7?
Thanks for any information.
