Sorry , No links, or practical experience doing it.
Memories of having come across descriptions of running from a DVD Also Linux distributions that run from a CD, and facilities to run windows programs within that environment, I would expect whatever is used to copy files that need to be updated ( including registry) onto the hard drive as part of the startup. However - I would have expected the startup process to be fairly fast using a fairly small footprint OS and Office partition image, with something like Ghost/ acronis etc (and keeping most of the programs to be from the DVD ) Hopefully those on the list will have more knowledge and hands-on experience - such as with the XpPe and other 'recovery' system CD/DVDs If they can run a windows XP environment from the CD/DVD , then hopefully, it shouldn't be too difficult to setup a 98 version JimB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Shaw" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2006 9:54 PM Subject: Re: Protecting a Public Access Win98 Computer > I'm not the one that posted this message, but I am looking to do a similar thing with some old computers that are now running Win98SE. Is there something I can get to do this?? The computers all have limited CPU power & low memory & hard drive space. They all have CDROM drives though. Do you have any links to how to do this &/or any software to do this???
