I think the XT (4.77 MHz Intel 8088 with optional hard drive) was circa 1983
and the AT (6 MHz Intel 80286 + hard drive) was circa 1984. I purchased my
first computer, an Atari 800 in 1982 at about the same time the original IBM
PC (4.77 MHz Intel 8088 with two floppies) was begin introduced. The XT was
the first "improved" version and the AT the second.
