My Tohiba cdrom is also generic... but i only carry it occassionally and
only if i think i will need it, which is rare.

It crashed when i was using OE. I keep OE's datas stores on the second
partition so I'm suspecting that because Windows was using data on that
partiton when it bluescreened, it got messed up too.

I'm copying my VMs, movies and my TI images (60 some GB worth) to the
desktop right now - then will try to recover the data partiton. It's showing
in windows with a drive letter and size but that is it - accessing it slows
windows to a crawl before it errors out.

Suggestions on utilties that might help are welcome.

Other than freeezing my you-know-what off, it was a nice visit.
