Welcome to the club. I had a similar experience is late 2003 when I "upgraded" to NIS 2004. Once I removed NIS 2004, and without NIS 2003 installed either, the old Dell was like a new machine. I had had NIS 2003 on my wife's machine too, and once I pulled it off there, hers was significantly faster too.
Upshot is I don't use ANY of the big dawgs any more. All the 8 or 10 computers I care for for the extended family have AVG7 and Zone Alarm (both free) and all except my machine are set for auto update (that is the only way I can be SURE they are updated as they should be). - Bill Hatcher [EMAIL PROTECTED] - -----Original Message----- From: Windows Home/SOHO [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Pete Holsberg Sent: Wednesday, January 18, 2006 23:11 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [WINHOME] Norton AntiVirus Problem ...I talked him into letting me uninstall NIS. What a difference in boot-up and especially shutdown times!! Installed AVG and MS antispyware, and turned on MS firewall. Now we're both happy!... -- ---------------------------------------- To Change your email Address for this list, send the following message: CHANGE WIN-HOME your_old_address your_new_address to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Note carefully that both old and new addresses are required.
