Couldn't resist jumping in on this one..............
I remember as a youth listening to New York Taxis on my parents radio
gramophone. The signals used to start to come up at about dusk and
sometimes lasted for several hours. More often they would fade in and
out. Sometimes quickly, or vary rapidly, like a fluttering, or vibrato
effect.
