Sorry for replying to my own post.
What this tweak does is to tell windows to start a fresh desktop each
time it reboots, so you will lose all the desktop settings from your
previous session. The main bugbear is that if you have a custom icon
layout, windows will forget what it is. It won't forget the icons,
just where they were on the desktop.

There are a couple of ways to do this, they are all registry
tweaks. Here's the one I use:
Run RegEdit
Go to Registry Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
Modify or if it doesn't exist, Create the Value Name according to
the Value Data listed below.
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value Name: DesktopProcess
Value Data: 1
Exit Registry and Reboot

I had to re-install pinnacle studio 10, and ever since when I boot
up my table top is covered with my E:\ directory open. The program
is not open just the directory listing for that drive. How can I
stop that from happening and just boot to my regular desktop?
Thanks
