ping 207.46.130.108 (microsoft.com)
ping microsoft.com
NONE of the above works for me.
(Even while actively sending and receiving e-mail.)
I think this has something to do with my router settings...
Some servers have a policy of blocking ping packets, one
of those being microsoft.com. Google.com and yahoo.com
should work. A typical home router can be configured to
make YOU unpingable, but I don't think it affects self-originated
pings. Firewalls (like the Windows OneCare I'm running) can
block the latter unless configured otherwise.
