In my case, using Avant browser (also built upon IE, also tabbed interface)
without OO installed, I get a sinple file download dialog box, and a "Page
cannot be displayed" screen in the browser window. I can successfully
download the .odt file.

As I said before, NO "file download" window, OO opens within Maxthon with
the document opened...
