thank you all for your input, glad that i have a sense of humor. as i said in my original post, i have two of these scanners, and my customer has one himself. i have already suggested he purchase a new scanner that xp supports. as for myself and the boat anchor suggestion, i think not. these scanners have worked without a single problem (under win 98) for many years, and are full of nice features. being in the business (computers) for many years, i have ten machines i use, running a variety of operating systems, and i do not mind keeping a win98 box or two for scanning and other 98 repairs. one of these is a dual-os, running 98 and 2000, which i have always intended to use on two networks so that i can scan on one and distribute to the other, i just have never got around to it..i'll leave the boat-anchoring to those of you with too much cash and too little time.
