Dry dust is easy to blow out. Nicotine laden dust is off limits to me.

Maybe you ought not to limit yourself quite so much. I've yet to see one machine that was affected by it. Maybe if the machines were blown out more than once in their useful lifetime like they wouldn't be as much of a problem. I've got clients running ham radio stuff on XT machines that smoke but their machines are cleaned at least once a year.

Not only are more and more people quitting smoking, more and more people are taking it outside.

Maybe because they are forced to by paranoid non-smokers.

I find that fewer than 10% of computer owners who smoke actually ruin their computer by smoking close to it. 9 out of 10 computers that have evidence of being in the presence of a smoker are not totally ruined. Those that are totally ruined evidently are owned by chain smokers who have their ashtray directly in front of the front air intake fan etc.

This last paragraph seems to contradict your own lead sentence.

I've acquired a medical air compressor that was slightly out of spec & use that to blow out the dust that accumulates in machines. It does a nice job & with nicotine laden dust as well. What is fun is when I have to clean out the machines that are pet shops.
