Recently bought S&T 2006 and have been trying to install it on an almost new
Compaq Presario but when I get near the end of the installation I get an
error message:

"Error 1402. Could not open key:
UNKNOWN\Microsoft.MapPoint.WiFiScanner.1\CLSID. Verify that you have
sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

The Presario has an 80GB hard drive with 73GB open, 1.25GB RAM, Win XP
Home/SP2 with an AMD Sempron 3200+ processor so I doubt there is any
hardware issue.

Specifically to the error message, there is only one user on the machine,
the default "Compaq_Owner" which is also the computer administrator account.
IRT the "MapPoint.WiFiScanner," this computer has a wired connection to my
home LAN and has never had any sort of wireless setup since I bought it a
couple of weeks ago, and I have no need for any sort of wireless capability
from it. FWIW, S&T 2004 is installed on my home brew box and works fine...

If all else fails, I can attempt installing the program on one of the other
machines sitting around here, but eventually the Presario will be my "main
machine" so would prefer to get it installed on that one. Suggestions most
welcome.
