I'd ask what he wants to do with it that needs an upgrade. With only a 120watt power supply, putting in extra memory, and a larger hard drive could cause serious problems also - he doesn't have a DVD, and if he got one, his system would not be up to using it for much.- speed, and hard drive capacity.
Then look at the cost of a replacement system £250 including XP Home - (no screen, but onboard video may be better than the card he has, then again some of those 8Mb cards give very good sharp characters and graphics - just not too good at current games, but then again 2x AGP on a 10 year old system sounds like sharp end of the market back then Still - replacement may be the cheaper option, unless, with free bits now it's going to be replaced next year JimB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hugh Gundersen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 30, 2006 10:39 AM Subject: Question - histoical info please... Hi folks My wife's ex has asked for some help with one of his old girlfriends PC. Apparently it's about 10 years old (maybe 11.5) and has a celeron 466 processor (can this be?) with 64Mb SDRAM (Can this be also?) He want to "upgrade" (DON'T ASK) the memory but has no idea what type it could be. Any clues?
