If the mombo manufacturer has a upgrade for the bios then I would go that route and I would go the overlay route only if there is no bios upgrade available.
Thanks everyone for the help.
The easiest solution I found at Seagate.
It was to insert a jumper on the far right 2 pins.
This makes the Bios think it is a small drive.
You can actually use the whole drive.
