You can do both from Windows Explorer: TOOLS>MAP NETWORK DRIVE.

Disconnect the existing network drive, then remap it and assign the desired
drive letter.

In the same TOOLS>MAP NETWORK DRIVE window where you do that, there is a box
that can be ticked to reconnect when you log on.

IMO, the network drive feature in XP is a MUCH under used capability. One of
the handiest ways I know of to easily access/move files on a LAN...

How can you change the drive letter associated with a network drive?
[also, where is the "automatically reconnect this drive" info kept?  I
have one that I apparently forgot to set that on and it'd be handy to be
able to re-set that].
