Did you ever look into flashing the bios?
As a side note I flashed my bios on this Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 & now I
can use the latest & greatest AMD X2 CPUs. Not too shabby since I've
had this machine 18mo now & with a new cpu it can be a top end
machine again. That doesn't happen very often if the land of state of
the art technology. Gee, do you think Vista will run on a machine
with an AMD 4400x2 processor, 2 WD 74g 10k Raptors in Raid 0, an ATI
X800TVD & only 2g of dual channel ram? ;-)
