I was pretty happy with Asus until this happened, and don't remember
seeing Asus in the reports of
cap failures. They lost or did not answer my first email which was sent
on their support web page!
After a week I sent another and recieved an answer in 2 days, and
recieved an RMA 1 day later.
It has been a month since the failure, but I got 3 emails today with a 2
to 3 day wait for shipping
of the new board with the total cost to me <$10.00 for one way shipping
by UPS of the failed
board. I think I am happy with them again now.
The computer I am on now is my backup ;
CPU Type AMD Athlon-PECM, 1400 MHz
Motherboard Name Asus A7M266 (5 PCI, 1 AGP Pro, 1 AMR, 3 DIMM)
Motherboard Chipset AMD-760
System Memory 512 MB
purchased in 2001.
Good Luck With EPOX.

Perhaps the "-E" version doesn't have any of those funky low-quality
capacitors that were around a couple of years ago.
For the rest of that story see www.badcaps.com
I'd take the -E version board in a heartbeat.
Presently fighting a running gun battle with EPOX to fix a bad MB as we
speak. If they don't come thru today I will forever be off their products.
