Just to update you on the saga of the weird machine with a mid of its own.
Backed up XP home and copied all folders as is to spare Hdd so if everything
goes pear shaped I can
get it back to rubbish again.
Split original 170Gb Hdd into 5 and gave 40Gb to OS & Progs - 2nd part to all
documents - 3rd to
programs - 4th to misc and last to backup of OS partition.
Not ideal but better than nothing.
Installed XP pro and now putting the document folders back but on part 2 and
then trying to find the
installed? drivers for video, sound, mouse, keyboard.......
Running 100% faster but still rather slow even though it had DDR dual Channel
Memory @ 400Mhz.
It's a "cheapo" made by Elonex and leased from the local education authority
(joke) She could have
bought one from Tesco/K-Mart for 1/2 the price or I could have built her one
for 1/3 the
price......! Service comes with it but never turns up and not interested in
the OS or software.
Printer hasn't worked since Xmas.
