Last resorts ... is this a standard desktop ide drive? Try chilling it
in the fridge. If there is still NO power at all after that, and you
have decided it is DEAD, USELESS, hold the IDE drive level and slam it
firmly against a hard horizontal surface (concrete floor?) once, I've
twice seen this revive a "dead" drive long enough to get SOME files off
it. Maybe it "unsticks" a stuck drive head on a platter or something.
