I think you guys are getting way ahead of where he need to be
at this stage, <grin>
I once had a drive standing on the long edge, roll over 90* to
laying out flat, (with a thud), and that "took it out" forever...
Last time I told someone to beat on a drive, I was in my Doc's
office, it was "Y2K", and he wanted to securely distroy the data...
(I am not saying to are trying to "get rid of" Jim, but this action
is a little drastic, and more sutable for a "very" old drive...)
I'm still waiting for the answer to how old the machine is...
