As per - I have tried to play a DVD from a folder too. OTH I do suspect my CDRW drive has gone bad if there is any such thing Many of my Dragtodisks cannot be played any more and they become unreadable on other computer too.
Sounds like a bad drive Re drag-to, remember that almost every file being dragged is a re-write of both the allocation and directory areas on the disc, and most RW media are rated at 1000 rewrites Also you stand far more chance of losing files with the drag-to than when writing them as sessions to in CD-R mode.
