I remember one computer some 10 years ago was freezing up running Win 95.  
Couldn't figure it so ran
it with the lid off and all was Ok!  So - temperature came to mind.  Cant

checking it was the "graphics driver" - so bloody hot.

I got a couple of ice cubes from the freezer and stuffed them in a plastic bag 
and sat it on the IC
(chip) no problems but what to do................ disable and fit cheapo card 
but not before I tried
fitting a heat sink but the glue kept cracking of due to the heat!

Another weird computer that got shoved my way was a real oldie with - wait for 
it - serial port
monitor graphics.  Ever seen that?????
