Yes - basic economics probably indicate you should get a laser, Cheap ones can be obtained for about £/$ 50
( I even spec a laser printer for college/school student PC's, and an inkjet scanner copier photoprinter - with the suggestion that the student should have to pay for the ink, even if the parents are paying for the paper and a reasonable supply of toner - don't need to encourage the budding entrepreneur into running a printshop for their friends etc.) Or - consider going for the 2nd tier 'office type - with a large cashback, or discount The discount on the second tier machines frequently reduce their price to near that of the cheapest 'office' rated printers. But - before buying do a costing on the volume of printing done Printer + ink/toner + fuser/drum etc for the expected life of the printer ( in pages) and ... that's how many years service - out of which budgets, and what depreciation is used for IT equipment write-off remembering that a laser printer will probably be a capital 'plant' item, while an inkjet, and the ink will almost certainly be office consumables JimB ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Poer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2006 3:43 PM Subject: Printer query-advice needed > Have a boss who loves to print copy after copy after copy of emails, but > doesn't like to spend a lot of money on the printer itself, but just flat > burns up a PC printer.
